Ethiopia has witnessed rapid economic growth, with real gross domestic product (GDP) growth averaging 10.9% between 2004 and 2014, which is lifting the country from being the second poorest in the world in 2000 to becoming a middle income country by 2025, if it continues its current growth trajectory.

Ethiopia generates $2.6bn revenue from commodity exports
Government had generated 2.6 billion dollars from the export of goods and commodities within the last 10 months, Ministry of Trade announced. The ministry's Spokesperson, Amakele,Yimam ,told newsmen in Addis Ababa that the amount was generated mainly from the export of animals, fruits and vegetables, coffee, hide and skin, textile and garments.

Misplaced opposition to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam
The 1929 Nile water allocation agreement that was signed by Egypt and the United Kingdom (which excluded Ethiopia and nearly all other upper basin countries) allocated 48 billion (65%) cubic meters of water per year to Egypt and 4 billion to the Sudan. The 1959 agreement between Egypt and the Sudan raised the share to 55.5 (75%) billion and 18.5 billion cubic meters to Egypt and the Sudan, respectively.

THE 2005 EFY GDP and OTHER RELATED MACROECONOMIC INDICATORS
The economic growth (GDP at constant basic price) for 2005 EFY is estimated to be 9.7 %. As per the estimates, annual growth rates of the major sectors, i.e. Agriculture, industry and service were 7.1 %, 18.5 % and 9.9%; respectively and their shares out of the total GDP were about 43%, 12% and 45%, respectively.

The 2012/13 Annual Progress Report of the Growth and Transformation Plan (APR) is the third publication in the series of the APRs. The report provides analyses of the progresses in the macro- economy, economic development, infrastructure, social development, democracy, governance and cross cutting agendas. The report analyses and compares the 2012/13 achievements against the target set for the fiscal year and the performances of the previous fiscal years (2010/11 and 2011/12). The report also evaluates the cumulative achievements registered over the last three years of GTP period in light of the targets set to be achieved at the end of the GTP period.
